Charter School Properties Launches Construction Of Sunlake Academy in Tampa
TAMPA, Fla., January 2016 – Education facilities developer Charter School Properties (CSP) has begun construction of the new Sunlake Academy of Math and Science in the Tampa area.
The 40,000-square-foot school for grades K-8 features CSP’s prototype, two-story charter school design, which includes spacious classrooms, library/media center, science laboratories, computer labs, art rooms, administrative offices and large outdoor play and activity areas. According to CSP President Joseph Rauenhorst, the energy efficient school will be completed this summer and ready for the start of the 2016-17 school year. Charter School Properties acquired the eight-acre site in 2015, and general contractor for the project is Center Contracting.
In creating the school, the developer is working closely with the governing board of Sunlake Academy and Charter School Associates, Inc., (CSA), the school’s Education Management Organization. CSA operates 21 high-performing Florida charter schools and will manage the facility for the governing board. Sunlake Academy will have a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) focus and will offer an interdisciplinary approach to learning in which science, technology, engineering and math play integral roles. STEM academics will be coupled with hands-on learning and a solid foundation in core disciplines.
“We’re pleased to be bringing the local community new educational opportunities with this state-of-the-art building and a proven, high-tech STEM curriculum,” Rauenhorst said. “Partnering with Charter School Associates and other leading charter school operators, we focus on creating stimulating, nurturing environments that maximize each child’s achievement and develop the skills needed to succeed today.”
Charter School Properties specializes in developing, financing, constructing and leasing efficient, cost-effective charter school facilities.
